KFOX14 is announcing the departure of primetime anchor Hema Mullur who has been with the company since 2008.
Mullur announced this week that she has accepted a job as an anchor in a Top 20 market but is not ready to disclose which market.
“It’s always bittersweet when one of our own leaves,” said KFOX14 News Director, Elizabeth O’Hara. “On the one hand, we’re proud that the training we provide allows our employees to make such large leaps in their careers. It looks great for KFOX14. On the other hand, Hema is an important part of the team and you never want a key player to leave.”
Mullur previously worked as the morning anchor/reporter at KWES-TV in Midland/Odessa, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.
Mullur’s last day on the air at KFOX14 will be August 26. A national search is now underway for a replacement.

I say good riddance. She seemed to have put on a lot of weight lately and her flapper hairstyle is sickening.

Even if what you said was true, that has nothing to do with her anchoring abilities!! She will be missed.

Great anchor. Strange Question. What is her nationality/ethnicity? Her name is beautiful but unusual.

KFOX is not the same without Hema. But I am not surprised she got a job in a bigger market than El Paso. I can see her on the national news someday.

She will be missed. Did a great job here in El Paso and formed a nice, smooth transitioning anchor team with JohnP. Good luck, Hema.

I have enjoyed and appreciated Hema since the moment I first saw her on-air. Her professionalism most impressed me - a very, very talented new anchor. Her beauty astounded me. I had expected that one of the cable news networks would have noticed her and she would have been hired away long ago. She would have been a natural for CNN International, or CNN or MSNBC. (She's much too intelligent to have fit in at the Fox News Network.)
So, I am very sorry to learn that she has left - I thought perhaps she was on vacation. El Paso always loses it's best, with one remarkable exception: Estella Casas is miraculous. Los Angeles, Dallas or Miami would be quite glad to quintuple her salary and steal her away. But she won't be bought, and loves this community.
But back to Hema - if you happen to read any of these comments please know how much you were appreciated here, however short the time, Hema!

I miss Hema. She was so beautiful, but also a good news reader. So far none of the people who are anchoring the evening news after her have cut it. I think Martina Valverde is fine as a reporter, but let's face it, she's not cut out for a full time anchor job. There's no way KFOX can go from Hema to Martina. KFOX double Hema's salary and bring her back!!!!

hahahaha, the only KFOX will be doubling anytime soon is their debt. Rumor has it that their mother company just slashed their news operations budget and is threatening to pull the plug all together. For four straight years the station has been floundering under O'Hara. Get your resumes ready is all I have to say.

hey elpasoidol, you are just an unhappy former employee who thinks he is the bomb! you came up with this el paso idol name when your lame promotion for an el paso idol bombed, like everything you did at kfox. i will give you credit for using that name on here though.

Sticking up for your buddy ME? That just makes you part of the problem with KFOX's newsroom. EVERYONE knows management is in deep...and as always you'll just continue to follow her like a lame little duck.
