KFOX-TV Channel 14 (cable Channel 8) reporter Derek Shore is leaving the station at the end of the month. His last day on air will be Oct. 31.
Shore has taken a reporting job at KOVR-TV Channel 13, the CBS station in Sacramento, Calif. He will be a general assignments reporter.
"I didn't expect to love El Paso as much as I have come to. I will miss the news, but more so the people," he said. "I want to thank my news director, Elizabeth O'Hara, for the opportunity and the experience."
Shore worked in El Paso for two years.

He was one of the best reporters this city has ever had. It's obvious he learned his craft from watching Peter Daut because Mr. Daut sure made that SISD superintendent squirm when he put her under the microphone. I'll never forget Derek leaping to his comrade's defense after his cameraman was viciously assaulted outside of the courthouse. I would hope that perhaps we could organize a going away party for him before he leaves, perhaps at Cracker Barrel. That way we could toast Mr. Shore and get better acquainted with all the lovely, intelligent people who frequent this fine blog.

BEST REPORTER IN THIS CITY! He made a name for himself reporting on the violence in Juarez LIVE on FOX NEWS. Good guy, good reporter, this city losing one of the best. Best of luck Shore!
