Nichole Ayoub, the prime-time anchor at KDBC-TV Channel 4 announced today that she is leaving the station. Her last day is April 23.
Ayoub is yet another high-profile departure in a long string of exits at the KDBC/KTSM-TV Channel 9 merger. At least three other on-air journalists have announced that they're leaving the stations in the last month, including Trevor Connor, Russ Pappas and Ramon Herrera.
According to sources from within the station, Ayoub said she is quitting so that she can devote more time to her twin sons. Nichole has been in the El Paso news business for more than 10 years, and spent many years as a reporter and weekend anchor at KVIA-TV Channel 7. She left Channel 7 to take over the Channel 4 anchor desk.

Nichole...You will be missed!!

Well, most all of us saw this coming a mile away. At least she is able to leave on her own terms instead of being given the axe as so many of her colleagues have. I just hope that she lands on her feet so that she can continue to support her baby. She does have incredible legs and is a very accomplished dancer, but that's no environment to bring up a youngster in.

She comes from a wealthy family? Her kids will be fine...

This move was almost certainly perpetrated by KVIA's hunk of man-meat - Raul Martinez!

Bye!

Will this be the nail in the coffin for KDBC? Who knows? Just dump the KDBC name already.

You are deeply admired in our communuty. Nothing but the best for you and your family.

Nichole, you will be missed very much: you are a class act, so professional, and a joy to watch as you anchored the news. You kept a lot of viewers loyal to Ch 4. Enjoy motherhood and I have a feeling you'll be back in five years when the twins are off to school.

Now it's Robert Bettis Turn To Leave The Station Too.

She's not "mamacita", she is in the simplest of terms...a lady (A VERY SEXY AND HOT LADY!!!)

She will be sorely missed. She was such a great and fun person. Have fun with the kiddos Nichole!

They should just turn KDBC in to a public access channel and let people take turns reporting the news.

She didn't leave KVIA for the KDBC anchor desk. She quit KVIA when she couldn't get her way, then her family sent her on a long vacation to Europe as consolation. She probably announced she's leaving KDBC because the writing is on the wall; she was going to be let go.
Posted by: J | April 13, 2010 at 09:43 AM
That's an interesting theory because I've heard there is a lot of writing on the wall over at KDBC, although much of it is pornographic drivel found on the bathroom stalls. I have no doubt that she'll land on her feet as she is becoming so well known in Brownsville.

Nicole landed on her feet the day she was born. She is from a wealthy family, has a good education, and is very attractive to boot. She doesn't need that job, or any other job. I can only presume that she left because she did not want to deal with the nonsense anymore.
The ones I feel sorry for are the guys who are getting axed and forced out who don't have rich families to fall back on. Those guys actually need their jobs and can't afford to leave because they are tired of dealing with the drama.

Do the people who posted negative comments feel better now? She was always very competent and professional. You negative types should have shown some class and kept your comments to yourselves. Have a good life, Nichole. I agree that you will be missed.

Best of luck to you Nichole.
P.S. How about taking Robert Bettis with you! PLEASE, PLEASE.
Posted by: Gio Macias | April 14, 2010 at 01:44 PM
Right on, Fernando. Why it is that people have to trash someone when they leave is beyond me.
Posted by: Blago | April 14, 2010 at 06:07 PM
Blago, people dont trash just when they are going around here but when they are coming too. Look at the Fox posts. I have said it many times, the way I think of the people who give us the news on tv has changed since I started looking at this blog.

Good luck, Nichole. You were always extremely nice to me, helpful and fun to work with. I wish you the very best in whatever comes your way in the future.

Do any insiders know who will take over her anchoring duties?
Posted by: 12345 | April 16, 2010 at 12:14 PM
Nichole does not need to work. Her husband's income is enough for a comfortable life.
Of course a woman in her economic situation is going to take advantage of the opportunity to raise her twin boys at home.
We really enjoyed her down-to-earth presentation of the news on Channel 4. She is a jewel. We will miss her.

12345, to answer your question. the last time I watched the Ch 4 News, another "hottie" had stepped up at KDBC from the KTSM reporter ranks: the stunning Monique Griego: she's a very good reporter and anchor.
