Gustavo reported a couple of weeks ago about Newspaper Tree going on furlough.
Today brings good news for those concerned about longtime El Paso journalists Sito Negron and David Crowder: Both have been hired by El Paso Inc.
Though Crowder was heard on talk radio earlier this week saying they still hoped Newspaper Tree would return once it got "a grant," a quote from Negron in today's story seems to refer to Newspaper Tree in the past tense.
“We had some good times at Newspaper Tree, and thoroughly enjoyed the work and the support from management to do our jobs of reporting and storytelling,” Negron said. “We’re looking forward to bringing the same type of effort and reporting to El Paso Inc.”
There are rumors out there that Newspaper Tree or something similar may return under the leadership of none other than David K.
Ben Wright was a fun writer, and the only reason I read NPT. I didn't agree with his politics but he was different.
Sito Negron is weird and pro drug legalization and the reason why I quit reading the NPT.
David Crowder is ok, just panders sometimes to the wrong people. He needs to write informative public interest stories.

David K is just a poison pen.Too much like limbaugh. NPT was originated by Anthony Martinez (lawyer) as a behind the scenes factual based public interest site.

so much for loyalty to keith. as the commenter above stated that sito is a big lib and i would agree. crowder tends to side with the big wigs. davidk will have to stay at npt because no one else wants him. he is not even close to rush. rush is a conservative all the time. david is conservative except when it might put money is his pocket. better luck next time keith.

David accepted on offer from El Paso Inc. This offer came quick. So much for "no one wants him." He is one of the best reporters in the state.

I am not Mrs Crowder. You might not like David yet he is still considered to be one of the best reporters in the state.
