Rachel Abell has left KVIA-TV Channel 7 (cable Channel 6). Her last day was Friday.
Abell, who is married to KVIA sports director Raul Martinez, will stay in El Paso and become a full-time stay-at-home mom to the baby the couple is expecting.
And although she is no longer on the air, Abell is not giving up story-telling, though. She has started a blog to chronicle the rest of her pregnancy and her "adventures" as a first-time mother.
The name of the blog is "Becoming Mama: Adventures of a Stay-at-Home-Mommy." You can read her first entry here.

Best wishes to you and your growing family.

Hey weatherbuddy...
Thank God you're on the internet. That way we don't have to look at YOUR crooked mouth...or nose...or face...or lack of politeness. Didn't your mama tell you if you can't say anything nice, keep it to yourself?

My mama told me not to go on TV if you have a crooked mouth.

I will truly miss this woman! I could tolerate her mouth because she is really stacked, especially after getting knocked up.

And again, posting stupid snarky comments. That's why El Paso will always be El Paso. That's all that news is about; stacked, knocked up, hot, however you describe women. You're all pathetic.

As a professional woman, I am deeply insulted by the lack of respect shown towards the prominent women of our community. I worked my rear end off to try and get ahead in my field without resorting to low-cut blouses or sleeping with the boss as so many women do. Why can't people just accept women as people instead of as objects of desire? I enjoy looking at an attractive woman as much as the next person, but that's not what TV news is supposed to be about. Rachel was a wonderful broadcaster and I wish her the best as she gives birth and breast feeds and does all the wonderful things of motherhood. And if she chooses to come back, I hope that things will be different and she won't be treated as a piece of meat, not matter how choice her meat might be.

To Tammy and Cassandra, not all men on this blog are perverts. I myself am offended by some of these morons that leave their sexist comments. They have nothing better to do but live with mommy and daddy and suck up precious air and play video games all day on the computer. My hats off to you women who have to work twice as hard as men. Cassandra you are right, El Paso will always be El Paso because some of these uneducated idiots.

Amber, Ashley and now Rachel? Has any station ever lost three such gorgeous blondes in such a short time? My heart goes out to the station manager.

Congragulations to Rachel & Raul!! Rachel you will be missed!! Don't pay attention to the uneducated idiots!! They just have to much time on their hands or they work for a station that has no rating!! Good Luck and God Bless the three of you!

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Rachel on a news story that she was working on, and I have to say she was a consummate professional. She does her job very well, and is incredibly personable. From our brief interaction, I was impressed! I wish her all the best as she transitions into being a stay-at-home mommy.
