UTEP women prove they belong

The UTEP women showed up big time for their first ever postseason game, taking out W. Kentucky, 92-60.

It was an exciting game to watch ... at least until ESPN2 fustrated all of El Paso by switching to another game. The victory may have been in hand, but it would have been nice to see the whole thing anyway.

Now the UTEP women will have to take on #2 Stanford on Stanford's home floor. That's a pretty high mountain to climb.

But even if they can't pull off the big upset Monday night, they proved tonight they belong among the elite teams this year. A great showing.

Hey Jay, Where and how were you watching ESPN2? I saw the whole thing all the way through.

Great performance by the NCAA first-timers with an old hand as their guiding light. It's obvious -- UTEP is so much better for having Natasha Lacy back in her hometown, if only for a season.

It was a great game! The Lady Miners really put on a show, hopefully they can keep it going.

I also saw the game all the way through. I have Dish Network.

DukeKeith: Really? Maybe like Gabe, you have Dish? Or you were at a sportsbar?

I have Time Warner Cable, but for those watching at my house, ESPN2 switched to that upset game once the Miners pulled about 17 ahead in the second half. It was kind of frustrating.

But glad you folks got to watch the whole thing!

On Direct TV you could go to channel 213 for a "protected" viewing of the game...guaranteed not to switch to another game. I found this on ESPN keyword "maps".

Great game. Is Hughes related to Philly Rivera?

I think I was a little annoyed that the ESPN broadcasters could only focus on Crystal Kelly in the first half...that is until UTEP blew them out of the water in the second. It's like they doubted that UTEP didn't have a chance just because of that one WKU player. Talk about no respect.

Oops....meant they doubted UTEP had a chance because of that one WKU player.

Because of their winning ways, I decided to go to a women's game about halfway thru the season. Then I was hooked. I am very pleased for them and hope that they will just play their game aganist stanford and let the chips fall where they may. Only one thing drives me crazy; #14: she can't run, she can't or won't jump, she doesn't go to the basket to try and rebound. She just as well be a static display. Obviously the coach knows more than I. I am a 20 year season ticket holder (men), a true Miner fan, and certainly hope the women all the Best.

Naw, I was watching Time Warner digital cable Ch. 301. Maybe that's a different feed from analog Ch. 26.

Hmmm.

Great win, though.

I watched the game on analog Ch. 26 just fine and didn't miss a minute of Claudia Porras playing.
