Redistricting bill tentatively passes the House

More than 16 hours after starting a debate over the redrawing of political boundary lines, the state House on Thursday tentatively passed a redistricting proposal on a 92 to 52 vote.

The map would shift the boundary lines within El Paso districts but would allow the county to maintain its five seats in the Texas House.

Debate on the bill ended just before 3 a.m. Thursday.
