A bill that would require voters to have a photo identification when casting ballots will not be introduced until Tuesday, according to the office of Sen. Robert Duncan, R-Lubbock.
Today's agenda for the Senate says:
"Upon adoption of the appropriate motion, the Senate will resolve into the Committee of the Whole Senate to consider the following: SB 14 Fraser/et al. Relating to requirements to vote, including presenting proof of identification; providing criminal penalties. The public is invited to observe the proceedings of the Committee from the Senate Gallery on the 3rd Floor."
But Duncan's staff says he will make a motion today to resolve the Senate into the Committee of the Whole and will then take procedural questions that will not have to do with the voter identification bill.
The bill will be laid out tomorrow morning and the senate will hear public testimony. A vote is expected to come Wednesday.
Valid picture ID should be shown to vote! How crazy is it that you need to show ID to buy Cigarettes, Alcohol, when u use your credit or debit card you are asked for ID, but when it comes to one of the most important privliges we have in this country there is not ID required? This is insanity! There are people who don't belong in this country who are voting for politicians( mostly Democrats) who are promising them and their jackpot babies the moon! This has to stop..they are balkanizing and bankrupting our country.
