El Paso is a unique city that at times struggles to define itself at the state and national level.

I'm working in El Paso with Innovate El Paso. www.innovateelpaso.org. To me El Paso means optimism and undiscovered opportunity. El Paso has a vibrant entrepreneurship scene. See a map of the scene here http://bit.ly/fp7Xsp many organizations on scene don’t know each other and so opportunity to collaborate is undiscovered. We’re recruiting women to launch companies here in El Paso to discover this opportunity and bring more resources. The El Paso Entrepreneurship Scene has welcomed an addition of the odyssey program. www.odysseyelpaso.com

"My El Paso" will be "Your El Paso" as soon as you touchdown on our beautiful desert metropolis. It's the safest All American City in the nation and anyone can tell you it's the friendliest too. With a culture and cuisine that’s the pride of the southwest, the perfect year round weather will surely make you call the Sun City your city too!

El Paso to me means perseverance. It means being proud and misunderstood and you know what, not caring. El Paso means golfing year round and not really knowing 100% for sure what the weather will be like because God keeps us on our toes guessing. But for the most part, El Paso is the envy of the country not the hated step sister city that was adopted by the US. Envied for it is the Mexican food capital of the world, with the prettiest girls, sunniest skies, and friendliest people. El Paso, El Chuco, "that dirty border city",..it doesn't matter, we know who we are...

My El Paso is rich and overflowing with one-of-a-kind culture; a place where the prominent traditions of Mexico meet the "American" way of life. It is one of the few places in the U.S in which households use the words "chile con queso" and "touchdown" in the same sentence. When I visualize the city of El Paso, I think of the natural beauty our geographical location possesses; the statuesque Franklin mountains, the international Rio Grande, the desert landscape in which the sun sets beautifully in the evenings. El Paso is also my safe place; while our sister city of Juarez is sadly home to crime, El Paso was proudly ranked the safest city by CQ Press. Lastly, El Paso is known as a city that offers great opportunities for its' people. As UTEP is on the verge of becoming a Tier One Institution, El Paso will soon be known as one more educational mecca in Texas, and start receiving more national research grants to benefit our home university and surrounding community. \m/
