El Paso has gotten less and less money because of GOP control and indifference but they sure do come here and ask for campaign money from the bankers and oil guys. All Dewhurst has done for El Paso is a token tweet.

The border needs better representation than an out of touch republican.

Considering the fact that the number of victims have swelled close to 5,000--beyond the number of Americans killed in Iraq since 2003, it seems to me highly irresponsible to underestimate the magnitude of violence. Our representatives should gird themselves for a challenge, and come up with alternatives--realistic and feasible alternatives. Moreover, they should keep in mind US responsibility: our hunger for illicit substances is fueling the drug trade. They're not killing each other over soccer games. America has always taken the stance that supply countries assume responsibility for illegal exports. Perhaps, it's finally time for the War on Drugs to change into a Drug Education and Control Policy. Look at the decrease in tobacco use after a vigorous education and advertising campaign. No one was kicking in doors to stop smokers. US reps need to come up with a viable demand-side policy other than more "WAR". Our neighbors to the South are suffering horribly. How long will we sit on the sidelines?
