Ever since the story last week about state Rep. Norma Chavez's lobby-funded graduation bash, I've been hearing that El Paso County Democratic Party Chairman Danny Anchondo might be gearing up to challenge her.
A few folks mentioned it in the comments section of the story. Jaime Abeytia over on Lion Star Blog threw it out. And, apparently, Paul Strelzin said something along those lines on his radio show today (Anchondo was listening when I called him).
So, I called up Anchondo and asked him if he plans to take on Chavez in the March Democratic primary.
"I have no desire to run for state representative," he said. "Right now, I've just got the Democratic Party that I’ve got to deal with."
Had he heard of any other folks who might run against Chavez, I asked.
"I don’t hear anything about any of the state representatives," Anchondo said. Then he added, "Of course, it’s early."
It sure is. Much more political intrigue and name-games to come.

Anchondo's brain does not have the capacity to run for public office. God forbid this uniformed and seemingly uneducated man become elected as a state representative. I saw first-hand how poorly he ran the Democratic primary last year creating chaos among his own party. I can only imagine how he would represent El Paso.
