Here's this week's installment of the Moody minute. State Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, this time talks about El Paso Days last week. He said local leaders' time in Austin was well-spent talking with lawmakers about Fort Bliss, border security, the medical school and mental health issues.
Moody also promises to talk next week about committee work at the Capitol. Freshman Moody had his very first committee meeting this week with the inaugural 81st session gathering of the Border and International Affairs Committee.

Thanks to Perry, Craddick and Youdoff tuition was deregulated in early 2000's). They are not as concerned with student interests as with oil, or Private/Profit corporate interests is counterproducive in public universities.
I think UTEP can be considered for Teir 1 and have some oversight that still keeps the public in the tuition decision making process. Increases are expected but not at the accelarated and unquestioned rate that has occured.I am sure you will find plenty of students who will tell you likewise. Go for Tier 1 but also have some oversight. Tuition shouldn't support CEO expansion pay and research which should be secured seperate from tuition. UT's Austin's a flagship univeristy
and their student democrats and republicans are preparing to lobby in March for regulation (and /or tuition relief) so EP's legislators ought to do something.
