Texas Dems see hope in dollar signs

The Texas Democratic Party today touted their financial success in the first quarter of the year.
Chairman Boyd Richie said the party raised more in the first quarter of 2008 than it raised in the 2006 and 2007 first quarters combined.
More than 3,600 donors statewide gave the party more than $620,000.
It's a sign, Richie said:
"Democrats who are participating in record numbers this year are dedicated to coming together to win this November," he said in a press statement.
All that money could mean more dough for Democratic candidates all over Texas, candidates like Joe Moody, who is running for the Texas House against Republican Dee Margo.
And with those two already starting the campaign jousting, it could be a long, pricey path to November.
