I could have voted for myself or gotten friends to stack the vote but I thought it would be cool to win on merit. Instead you jumped in with an hour to go and made your own history. Next time choose your own name upfront as that's all you did anyway.

This is only the beginning. You should probably tell the tech guys to change the background colour scheme too!

Oh and all the winning votes were after midnight the 7th. Deadline ... Katherine Harris LIVES!

I completely agree with tillzen!

Huh? La Casa Rosada? Ya gotta be kidding. Why not call this blog "Los Pinos"?

What a hoot! An absolutely, positively embarrassing hoot.

The El Paso Times once again surrenders any pretense to being a learned journal or having an educated readership.

And El Paso once again takes a back seat to some other part of the world – this time to Argentina, specifically Buenos Aires where the presidential palace is called, to wit:

LA CASA ROSADA.

I’ve been there - twice. And it’s a lot pinker than the capitol in Austin.

The palace was named “La Casa Rosada” by President Domingo Sarmiento, president of Argentina from 1868 to 1874.

Evita Peron spoke to the masses from the balconey.

Maybe we should now sing "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" ... just because we are from El Paso!

I am well aware the "La Casa Rosada" is the name of a building in Argentina. I graduated with a degree in Latin American Studies.

Just as U2 was well aware that a U2 is a spy plane. And REM knows that "REM" for rapid-eye movement sleep. However, those bands picked their names because they sounded cool.

Now, let us also consider that fact the some of the most read blogs about Austin politics are called "Pink Dome" and "In the Pink" which are in reference to the Capitol's colour.

This a blog name. I am sure that a "learned journal" and "educated readership" are both "learned" and "educated" enough to understand the play on words.
