Taco Jack

A colleague came up to another colleague and said, "I have a couple of extra tacos from Jack in the Box, do you want them?" The other colleague said, "Heck yeah." I said, "Tacos from Jack in the Box? Are you kidding me? Never heard of such a thing." Then the debate ensued. Can Jack in the Box really deliver a decent taco? Never had them, myself, so I can't judge. What do you say? Yes, to Jack in the Box tacos? Or no?

Hungry traveler

The family was driving back to El Paso from Colorado on Sunday when we hit Socorro, NM and said it was time for lunch. We selected the Socorro Springs Restaurant and Brewery as our restaurant selection, and we're sure glad we did. We ordered a couple of pizzas from the wood-fired stove, a garden salad and I had some micro-brews since I had completed my driving shift. I tasted a pumpkin brew and a light ale. Both were good light brews; I actually could taste a hint of the pumpkin spice in the brew and that was a pleasant surprise. This is a restaurant we would have no qualms returning to and worth a visit if you're passing through Socorro on your travels.

Enchiladas with your turkey

I've gotten into a habit of making enchiladas to be served as a side dish on Thanksgiving with the turkey. Now enchiladas have become part of my family's regular Turkey day spread. Another must-have with my turkey: stuffing with oysters -- my mom's style. Your turn. What's a must-have on your Thanksgiving Day spread?

Do you menudo?

It's evident people on the border love their menudo, as does most of my family in Colorado and New Mexico. I don't like menudo myself. Here's some of what I eat and don't eat:

I don't eat menudo, but I'll eat Rocky Mountain Oysters

I don't like liver, but I've eaten buffalo tongue

I'm not into Thai food, but show me a good Korean restaurant

I don't sushi, but give me crab any day of the week.

Italian cafe in Las Cruces

I've been in Las Cruces for business a couple of days this week and I was turned on to a nice Italian place called Zeffiro Pizzeria Napoletana located downtown. The artisan bread is hanging out all over this little cafe. If you're strolling downtown Las Cruces and looking for something different, try out this place.
