There's no void in Italian restaurants in El Paso. Certainly, there is no shortage of them along North Mesa Street.
So when Crust opened in the spot previously occupied by Maria Chuchena near the corner of Mesa and Mesa Hills Drive, it seemed like a risky proposition. I mean, I can quickly name five Italian restaurants that are within five minutes of this spot.
But Crust is offering somewhat of a higher-end Italian dining experience, and I guess that's how they're going to make their mark.
Based on the traffic we saw on a Tuesday night, the chefs and owners of this place may have found a niche. The question was, however: Would the food match the hype?
