In Wednesday's Living section (Sept. 15), you'll find a story that L.D. has touched on before on this blog — gourmet food trucks!! While she focused her blog several months ago on what Austin, Texas has to offer, we searched and found two really good trucks — Jessie Pena's Tacoholics and The Drifter run by Ian Atkins and Reid Hanson.
Peña travels in his remodeled 1987 postal truck selling all sorts of tacos, including the South Texan (grilled steak with queso fresco and caramelized onions), Korean barbecue and Vietnamese pork. He also has this awesome special Asian quesadilla with asadero cheese, spice pork, chicken or beef and topped with a Asian coleslaw with some crema on top.
Atkins and Hanson travel in a 1946 Spartan Manor travel trailer carrying an assortment of hot sandwiches with a gourmet twist including pulled pork, French dip and a banh mi sandwich — a Vietnamese sandwich. It’s a marinated steak on a soft roll with cucumbers, carrots, cilantro and jalapeños in a special sauce.
You can find these guys by following them on Twitter or Facebook.
Happy eating!

I want to thank the Victor, his partners in crime, and the El Paso Times; the exposure is encouraging not only to Tacoholics and The Drifters, but to all those crazy culinary entreprenurial spirits out there. It's lots of hard work, long hours, but I'm happier than I've been in a long time. I want to give a shout out to my wife, couldnt've done it with out you; and to all my family and friends.
So become a fan, or follow us on twitter. "Tacoholics", so if you don't know now you know. We'll take any suggestions to improve your experience. My suggestion is to try everything once, and expand your palate!
Over and out, "Bite Me." Thanks for the blog...
From one Tacotarian to another,
Jessie Pena

In some countries there is a law for truck stop. But nobody maintain it. Specially 3rd world countries are applicable for that.

I love it! I'd wonder if that's what inspired the program "Meals on Wheels"?
